Garland’s LSZH fire-rated optical fibre cables

Fire safety is a critical element in any building or infrastructure project. In particular, the use of fire-rated cables is essential to prevent the spread of fire and ensure the safety of occupants. Garland’s GLT-RC fire-rated optical fibre cables are specifically designed to meet strict fire safety standards, while providing reliable and high-performance communication solutions.

The GLT-RC cable is compliant to the IEC 60331-25 circuit integrity test. This test burns the cable for 2 hours and confirms that the cable can continue to operate at the end of that period.  This means the cable can be used for applications where circuit integrity of fibre optic circuits under fire conditions is required.

This new GLT-RC series is based around a unitube construction and is available in 6 and 12 fibre counts.

With LSZH construction, the cable passes the IEC 60332-1 and IEC60332-3 flame propagation requirements allowing it to be used indoors.  And with their low smoke zero halogen performance (>80% light transmittance when burned) this cable is a great alternative for your next indoor, outdoor or tunnel application where continued operation under fire conditions is required.

Features

  • Monotube constructed optical fibre cable with up to 12 fibres in a jelly filled loose tube
  • Integral fire barrier
  • LSZH jacketed for better safety
  • Red jacket for easy to identification
  • 120 minute (2 hour) fire rated to IEC 60331-25
  • Equivalent CI-2 fire rating to AS/NZS 4507 (CI-3 rating under evaluation)
  • GLTSM1RC006RD with 6 fibres
  • GLTSM1RC012RD with 12 fibres

Benefits

  • Low smoke emission: LSZH fire-rated optical fibre cables produce minimal smoke when exposed to fire. They allow for better visibility and support for a safer evacuation.
  • Zero halogen content: These cables are made from materials that do not contain halogen compounds, which can release toxic gases when burned. This also makes them more environment friendly.
  • Flame retardant: Designed to resist the spread of flames. They help to contain fires reducing the risk of fire- related injuries.
  • Water Blocked: Suitable for underground use including in tunnels.
  • UV Stablized: Suitable for use both indoors and outdoors.
  • Loose tube construction: For improved crush and impact resistance.
  • Aramid strength member: For improved flexibility when compared to standard loose tube designs.
  • Compliance with regulations: Many building codes and safety standards require the use of fire-rated cables in certain applications. Garland’s GLT-RC series of fire-rated optical fibre cables help ensure compliance with these standards.
