Data cable

Madison Express offers a range of data cables from Garland, available in a variety of configurations and screen designs.

Sustainable cable solutions are available with Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) cables and Best Environment Practice (BEP) qualified PVC cables. These not only allow you to earn GreenStar credits and help create a healthier environment, but they can also significantly reduce construction and performance costs.

RS-232

These data cables have PVC insulation and PVC jackets with an overall aluminium/laminate screen. They are used in low speed applications including instrument sensors, security keypads and swipes, older printers, monitors and peripheral equipment. Generally requested in 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 10 and 24 conductor variants depending on application, other custom sizes are also available. RS-232 are typically supplied with 7/0.2mm (24 AWG) plain copper conductors.

RS-422

Similar to RS-232 cabling, but RS-422 use a twisted pair configuration with higher quality PE or PP insulation. These cables are used for data applications requiring higher speeds and longer distances than possible with RS-232 cabling. The standard sizes are 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 10 pair with an overall aluminium laminate screen and PVC jacket. BEP (Best Environment Practice) certified PVC or LSZH jacket is also available with certain options. The common conductor size is 24 AWG, although 19 AWG and 22 AWG are also available.

RS-485

This cable is a common choice for longer distance or industrial applications. The cables are 120 Ohm twisted pair with heavy shielding and usually have a combination of both foil and braid. Madison Express offers an extensive range of RS-485 cables for the industrial sector.

As part of it’s data cables range, from their own Garland brand, the pair counts come in 1 pair, 1 pair + 1 conductor variant & 2 pair designs for the 22 AWG and 1, 2, 3 & 4 pair variants for the 24 AWG sizes.
